SwRI Annual Reports
Despite the turbulent global economic markets, Southwest Research Institute had another successful year. Revenue — the total amount of research conducted — was the highest in our history. As we continue to advance science and technology in support of government and industry clients, it is an honor to submit this annual report outlining a range of our technical programs and achievements throughout the past year. I know you will appreciate the varied and far-reaching effects of the Institute’s efforts. The ebb and flow of events over the past year created new opportunities for the Institute. The recent explosion in exoplanet discoveries is defining a major new market with new funding sources. The explosive growth of shale gas production in the U.S. presents new production and transportation challenges. At the same time, revitalized markets, such as compressed natural gas as a transportation fuel, are providing additional opportunities.
