Engineering Mechanics
Research and development programs in engineering mechanics include manufacturing process
simulation, fracture mechanics, transient solid dynamics, probabilistic structural
analysis, and thermo-mechanical structural behavior. Problems in these areas are solved
with the use of experiments and sophisticated computer programs, many developed at SwRI.
Results are based on knowledge of the mechanics of materials ranging from standard
structural alloys to developmental, advanced composites.
