About the Cover

To demonstrate the viability of performing seismology on asteroid 433 Eros, Southwest Research Institute scientists performed computations of impactor and explosive sources on local, high-resolution meshes (background) and transferred the resulting stress waves to a full model of the asteroid (foreground). The article, Cracking a Cosmic Mystery, describes the techniques used and presents computation results.
