The oil and elastomer compatibility test method CEC L-39-T-96 offered by Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) determines the compatibility of lubricating oils and cured elastomers used in the automotive industry.

ACEA 2008 Specifications

The oil and elastomer compatibility test is part of ACEA 2008 Specifications:

CEC L-39-T-96 Test Parameters

Test specimens are cut from slabs of the reference elastomer to be tested and are immersed in the oil being tested for a given period of time at a given temperature.

Pass/Fail Criteria

The pass/fail criteria include maximum variation of characteristics after immersion for 7 days in fresh oil without pre-aging
