Simulation results help engineers design better vehicle powertrain systems.

With increasing emphasis on math-based solutions to modern engineering problems and development cycles, Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) is strategically placed to offer a depth of experience with vehicle modeling and simulation services. Core competencies of this activity include:

  • Vehicle system engineering
    • Top-down architecture development
    • Bottom-up subsystem specifications development
  • Vehicle concept trade-off studies

Simulation work is performed almost exclusively in MATLAB/Simulink, with the exceptions being specific client requests or needs. Our engineers utilize popular vehicle simulation packages to ensure modularity and flexibility for many vehicle configurations.
