Chemical & Biodefense

Medical countermeasures are critical for chemical and biologic defense. Our understanding of the challenges of developing therapeutic supply, formulation, and delivery for the target product profile helps us to develop effective countermeasures for nerve agents, chlorine, cyanide and hydrogen sulfide, radiation, viral, and bacterial threats. We have worked closely with both private industry and government.

At SwRI, we

  • Understand the challenges of developing the therapeutic supply, formulation, and route of delivery for the target product profile
  • Understand through hard experience the different options and tradeoffs that project teams face developing Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) medical countermeasures
  • Leverage direct experience developing countermeasures for nerve agents, chlorine, cyanide and hydrogen sulfide, radiation, viral, and bacterial threats
  • Have experience working with private companies and agencies that fund this type of development – Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), MCS
  • Have a strong history of collaborations with Department of Defense (DoD) laboratories and investigators

We help clients:
