Using SwRI pilot plant equipment and 200-liter reactors, SwRI chemists carry out the synthesis of a 14-kilogram pilot plant batch run of phase I clinical material.

With almost two million square feet of offices, laboratories, test facilities and other state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) is able to meet your contract research needs. The Synthesis and Process Chemistry Section has the following equipment and facilities:

  • New research building coming on line in October 2009, offering an additional 4800+ sq ft of laboratory and office space, including three organic synthesis suites and one cGMP processing suite

  • Jacketed reactors from 20- to 200-liter capacity (-20°C to 150°C)

  • 80+ feet hood space, including walk-in hoods

  • 316 SS centrifuge, filtration equipment, 20-liter rotary evaporator, vacuum ovens

  • Jet, ball, pin milling capabilities

  • High-pressure reaction and hydrogenation capabilities
