Durability testing is an integral part of cylinder head design and analysis. Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) maintains several state-of-the-art engine test cells capable of testing using gasoline, diesel, or a variety of gaseous fuel blends. Testing capabilities include:

  • High altitude

  • Low temperature (-35°C)

  • Thermal cycling

  • Thermal shock

SwRI utilizes "quick change" carts to expedite the exchange of engines in the cells, thereby SwRI technicians reduce the time of engine setup and reduce the cost to the client.
