Emissions R&D
The Engine, Emissions and Vehicle Research Division maintains five large engine test cells with 6,000 brake horsepower capability and two large-bore, single-cylinder test cells. SwRI operates two multi-cylinder and one single-cylinder medium-speed engines that are available for client use. Additionally, SwRI operates a portable emissions test facility that can be used for a variety of programs. Jeff J. White, Director

Emissions R&D performs development and durability testing for
research, development, locomotive, marine, power generation, and gas
transmission light- and heavy-duty on-highway industries. The group specializes in performing programs that address
emissions reduction, efficiency enhancement, and improved durability and reliability. The
staff has extensive background with a variety of fuels, including diesel and natural gas.
