Dynamic models of hydromechanical transmissions, hydraulic hybrid, and electric hydrid powertrains have been developed by the Powertrain Group at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) for evaluating performance of various control strategies. The group has also prototyped controllers for all the above categories of transmissions as well as continuously variable transmissions (CVT).

Autoshifter™

The group has supported the building of control systems for specialized transmission test stands including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) type test stands. Further, a patented control system (AutoShifter) for retrofit type automated manual transmissions has been developed.
