Using advanced environmental chamber testing, engineers monitor hot and cold engine and vehicle performance. Chassis and engine dynamometers in the cells aid in developing cold-start strategies, fuel injection calibration, and hot vehicle component evaluation.

A wide variety of laboratory and supplementary equipment at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) supports complex development projects for motorcycle, scooter, and recreation engines.

 

Motorcycle Test Cells

SwRI dedicates many of its test cells to motorcycle and other high-power density engines. These cells include advanced dynamometers for the testing of any production and racing engine. Sophisticated test cell data acquisition and control systems allow our engineers and scientists complete access to all types of engine data including high-speed in-cylinder combustion. Specialized and advanced facilities include:
