The Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) Advanced Combustion and Emissions Section specializes in gasoline engine
development, methanol, ethanol, and other
gaseous- and liquid-fueled SI engine design, development, and testing.
The staff has vast experience with automotive engines, marine engines, motorcycle engines, small off-road engines, and industrial and aircraft engines. Development efforts directed toward meeting exhaust emissions, better fuel economy, and higher power output have provided SwRI engineers and scientists with a broad engineering base and understanding of spark-ignition engine technologies from around the world.
