	One of  more than 30 engine dynamometer evaluation bench stands used to gather data for engine combustion research

A wide variety of laboratory facilities and ancillary equipment at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) support complex development projects on spark ignition (SI) engines.

Dynamometers and Test Cells

Dynamometers up to 2,000 horsepower and 10,000 rpm allow testing of almost any production engine. Sophisticated test cell data acquisition and control systems allow our engineers and scientists complete access to all types of engine data including the in-cylinder combustion process. Specialized facilities exist for

unique project needs that are not listed below.

• Engine dynamometer test cells (hundreds of them)

• Chassis dynamometers

• Vehicle mileage accumulators

• Cold chambers

• Conditioned engine inlet air (temperature & humidity)

• Combustion data acquisition systems
