Modeling and Simulation: Fleet and Heavy-duty Vehicles (PDF)

Model-based development approaches to vehicle research and development are emphasized in the Advanced Vehicle Technology section in the Engine, Emissions and Vehicle Research Division at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI).

The scope and activity of the Advanced Vehicle Technology section include:

Advanced Vehicle Technology Experience

With increasing focus on hybrid, plug-in, electric and fuel cell applications building through the foreseeable future, the expertise and breadth of the advanced vehicle experience at SwRI allow greater flexibility to handle projects involving these emerging technologies.

Vehicle Laboratory Research

The advanced vehicle research process is transitioning from road testing to emphasizing the economic benefits of math- and laboratory-based research while helping clients minimize the current dependence on road-based testing and development. This transition enhances the SwRI systems engineering and analysis capabilities for all stages of hardware and software development.
