Advanced Vehicle Technology
The Advanced Vehicle Technology Section in the Engine, Emissions and Vehicle Research Division at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) focuses on both software and hardware approaches to vehicle research and development. Modeling and simulation work, technical design and evaluation studies, prototype development, and vehicle component testing all fall within the scope and activity of the section. With increasing focus on hybrid electric, hybrid hydraulic and fuel cell applications building through the foreseeable future, the technical expertise and breadth of experience within the section allows for greater flexibility in undertaking projects involving these emerging technologies.
The Advanced Vehicle Technology Section is rigorously engaged in transitioning the research process to emphasize the economic benefits of math-based and laboratory-based research, while helping clients to minimize the current dependence on road-based testing and development. This transition enhances the section's systems engineering and analysis capabilities for all stages of hardware and software development.
