RAPTOR has been designed as software for powertrain engineers to simulate vehicle performance and fuel economy. The user can modify the software for the following:
Hardware-in-the-loop
Distributed modeling
Co-simulation.
Raptor applications include:
Light-duty vehicles (2WD and 4WD)
Medium-duty vehicles
Heavy-duty vehicles
Trailers
Performance – For simulation of vehicle performance and controls systems development, RAPTOR uses an integration-based (forward) model architecture.
Fuel Economy – For simulation of vehicle fuel economy with faster run times, RAPTOR can also use a derivative-based (backward) model architecture.
Model Repository and Database – For both model architectures, RAPTOR maintains a common database that manages and controls both input data and models.
Hardware-in-the-Loop – RAPTOR can be configured to conduct HIL testing for any powertrain component. RAPTOR has been used at SwRI for both engine and transmission HIL applications.
Distributed Modeling – RAPTOR can be configured to enable users to distribute simulation processes over a LAN or the Internet.
Co-Simulation – RAPTOR can be configured to run in parallel with any other simulation software that can link to MATLAB®/Simulink®. SwRI has previously demonstrated co-simulation with Flowmaster2.
SwRI provides simulation services, consultation, and reporting of results for interested clients. SwRI has conducted hundreds of thousands of simulations for comparative powertrain studies and controls development. Ongoing use of this software by SwRI and licensees assures continued product improvement and enhancements.
