SwRI's experience allows for
recommendations to be made to the manufacturer that
dramatically improve the performance and efficiency
of their transmission. |
A broad range of capabilities for designing automatic, manual, continuously variable, and hybrid transmissions and transaxles and their components are available at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI).
Examples of gearbox designs are:
Toroidal CVT
Automated manual
Hybrid transmission
Multi-speed automatic
Single-speed

Transmissions and components are designed
to the prototype level or to the production level as
required by SwRI's clients. |
|
Experienced machinists fabricate and
assemble mechanical prototypes of SwRI-designed
transmissions and components. |
Transmissions and components are designed to the prototype level or to the production level as required by our clients. Design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA) are incorporated throughout the design process.
PrototypingSwRI has complete prototype fabrication and rapid prototyping capabilities for any transmission component including:
Gears, splines, and clutch drums
Ferritic and nonferritic castings
Transmission cases, pump housings and tail pieces
Springs, gaskets
Solenoids, wirings and switches
Pistons and spool valves
Toroids and sheaves
Oil pans—steel or aluminum
Transmission control units
