Performance and Instruction Department
The Performance and Instruction Department consists
of three sections: Training Technologies, Training Resources Development and
Courseware and Performance. The Performance and Instruction Department designs
and produces structured on-the-job training guides, interactive computer-based
courseware, linear video presentations, formal classroom instruction materials,
and training manuals and reference guides for various pieces of support
equipment and their components.
The Training Technologies Section is located at the
Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill AFB, Utah. The Ogden Air Logistics Center is
a large Air Force maintenance depot. Staff members work at the depot developing
a full range of instructional products. SwRI is entering its fourteenth year on
site serving the unique needs of this Air Force client.
The Training Resources Development Section serves the
Air Mobility Command at Scott AFB, Ill. Staff work in an office outside the Air
Mobility Command developing training products and performance support systems.
SwRI is in its seventh year serving the Air Mobility Command at the O'Fallon,
Illinois, site.
The Courseware and Performance Section develops
technology-based applications for on-demand training. Teams of instructional
designers, analysts and technical specialists work closely with clients and
subject matter experts to carefully define the specific training needs and
develop solutions. Training applications include desktop and embedded
interactive courseware, web-based training, performance support systems, and
intelligent tutoring systems. Other research and development areas include
interactive assessment tools, collaborative environments and tools, synchronous
distance learning, web-based applications and information management systems.
