Immersive Technologies

The Immersive Technologies Section focuses on delivering technologies that provide interactive, user-centered experiences with real and simulated objects in a realistic, synthetic environment. SwRI has conducted extensive research and development in the use and development of these technologies to provide interactive training for an array of applications including air traffic control, fire fighting, close-quarter battle, vehicle crew training, and medical applications. These systems range from desktop applications to full-immersion systems employing real-time visual, haptic, and olfactory feedback. SwRI's experience in interactive simulation covers component technologies through evaluation, assessment, and integration of existing technologies, and through the development of novel technologies and approaches. SwRI uses this broad experience base to meet specific training needs.
