In industrial work environments,
DEWIE brings the digital world right to the worker's
fingertips, displaying digital documents or files on
a large, 30" display. It also enables technicians to
capture their expertise via video in a non-obtrusive
manner with little impact on the daily workflow. |
While a paperless society is not yet a
reality, many organizations have migrated to a digital workflow.
Often, however, industrial workbenches do not provide adequate
support or space to access multiple digital resources, nor do
they take full advantage of the digital process.
Because of this, Southwest Research
Institute developed and built
the Digitally Enhanced Workbench for Industrial Environments (DEWIE).
DEWIE makes it possible for industrial workplaces to operate as
digital offices.
Features of DEWIE
Features of DEWIE include:
-
Built-in camera on extendable arm to share or capture video
details
-
Integrated test probes and bar code scanners
-
Touch-screen functionality for ease of navigation
-
Finger touch drawing for use with schematics or blueprints
-
Multiple, adjustable monitors to support numerous applications
in use
-
Integrated text recognition for ease of form completion
DEWIE turns every workbench into a training classroom and
creates an industrial work environment that encourages
collaboration and sharing.
