For more than 50 years, the U.S. Army TARDEC Fuels and Lubricants Research Facility, located on the grounds of Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in San Antonio has maintained a strong working relationship with the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) in Warren, Mich. The U.S. Army TARDEC facility in San Antonio is a government-owned contractor-operated (GOCO) facility. The contractor, SwRI, offers a variety of contractual arrangements to both government agencies and commercial companies including:

• Independent research and development provider

  • Multiclient programs

  • Task order contracts

  • Design Engineering Program (DEP) contracts

  • Basic ordering agreements

  • Contract to serve as an off-site research and development department for a company under non-disclosure agreements

• Subcontractor or team member

  • Prime contractor

  • Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program

  • 8A set-aside contractor

• Research and development provider for companies working to solve a problem common to the cooperating companies
