Field Service Simulated

The CEC L-88-X-01 test simulates high-speed, European highway driving.

CEC L-88-X-01 Test Fixture

A Peugeot TU5 JP+L4, 1.5 liter, inline, 4-cylinder engine with a modified oil sump, mounted on a test stand with a dynamometer, is used for this test.

CEC L-88-X-01 Test Parameters

The test runs six 12-hour, 2-phase cycles for a total test duration of 72 hours. Phase 1 (11 hours 50 minutes) is at wide-open throttle, 5,600 rpm, 150°C oil and coolant temperatures. Phase 2 is at idle for 10 minutes.

CEC L-88-X-01 Test Parts Evaluations

The pistons are rated for lacquer, carbon, and ring sticking.

Used Engine Lubricant Analysis

Kinematic viscosity at 40°C is measured at 12, 24, 48, 60, and 72 test hours and compared to new oil.
