The CEC L-38-A-94 test simulates slow and moderate speeds and low-temperature driving.
A Peugeot TU3M 1.3 liter, inline, 4-cyclinder engine mounted on a test stand with a dynamometer is used for this test.
The test runs a 40-hour step at 1,500 rpm with oil and coolant temperatures of 40°C and 45°C, then a 60-hour step at 3,000 rpm with oil and coolant temperatures of 100°C and 90°C.
The rocker pads are rated for scuffing, and the camshaft lobes are measured for wear.
The oil is sampled and checked at 0, 40, and 100 hours for iron content and fuel dilution.
