The complex interactions of stress, friction, wear, and chemical attack that occur in the human body and in the environment can cause failures.

Researchers at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) investigate failure mechanisms in biomedical implants and medical equipment.

Component and system-level nondestructive and destructive failure analyses are performed routinely at SwRI.

For more information about the biomedical engineering failure analysis capabilities at SwRI or how you can contract with SwRI, please e-mail Heather Hanson, or call (210) 522-5798.
