Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) staff provide our clients with communications consulting, analysis, and specification development support. Some potential support activities include:

  • Defining system requirements

  • Defining product requirements

  • Defining system or product specifications

  • Developing products

  • Coordinating production services

  • Providing limited production services

In all cases, SwRI staff work closely with the client's staff to better understand the client’s business model, special needs, and short- and long-term goals. A partial list of services provided for our clients include:

  • Systems engineering consulting – provide client engineering support in determining system needs or identifying and evaluating potential solutions.

  • Identifying and documenting system requirements or developing system specification – enables our client to procure systems that meet their needs.

  • Performance simulation – develop computer simulations of complex systems to demonstrate functionality and interoperability and to verify or adjust system and subsystem specifications.

  • Performing unbiased market surveys and tradeoff analyses – provide client with system alternatives based on performance and/or price

  • Offering unbiased product analysis or evaluation – identify the best solution for our client

SwRI works closely with each client to ensure accurate development and fulfillment of client requirements. Using numerous and varied resources to ensure delivery of a comprehensive solution that meets each client's requirements, SwRI engineers:

As part of a long-held tradition, patent rights arising from sponsored research at the Institute are often assigned to the client. SwRI generally retains the rights to Institute-funded advancements.
