Applied Power
Using physical science research and applied engineering to produce sensors, instruments and hardware used worldwide
Staff members in the Applied Power Division at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) have extensive experience in many technical areas including: power engineering, communications systems, mechanical design, precision machining, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, computational modeling, signal processing, optics, chemistry, physics, biology, soil science and geophysics. Using its applied research and pragmatic engineering philosophy, the division produces sensors, instruments, and hardware used worldwide.
The Applied Power Division houses a Science and Engineering Development Office to help predict the research needs of clients as much as 10 years into the future. This includes identifying where technology gaps exist and what expertise will meet clients' future requirements.
