Small Robotic Vehicle Evaluation and Applications

Third-party robot undergoing performance evaluation on the outdoor obstacle course at SwRI as part of a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) program.

The Small Robotic Vehicle Evaluation and Applications group in the Applied Physics Division conducts extensive performance testing to assess robot mobility and operational capability. Test courses and scenarios realistically reproduce commonly encountered environments. Design and development of one-of-a-kind payloads and integration of commercial payloads are also available. The resulting special purpose vehicles are used in a wide variety of applications.

Bill McBride, Program Director
Andrew Moore, Research Engineer

Technical strengths of the group include:

  • Small Robotic Vehicle and Payload Performance Evaluation
  • Outdoor and Indoor Testbed Development
  • Specific Payload Development
