	Biaxial stress corrosion cracking testing fixture

A wide variety of environmentally assisted cracking and stress corrosion cracking tests are performed in a dedicated materials laboratory at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI).

Standardized Stress Tests

Standardized tests for oil and gas, chemical, and other applications include:

• ASTM G38

• ASTM G39

• NACE TM0177

• NACE TM0198

Specialized Stress Corrosion Cracking Testing Capabilities

• Biaxial stress corrosion cracking frames capable of conducting testing in aggressive environments, such as brines with CO₂ and H₂S

• Test frames for applying cyclic loads with the measurement of crack propagation rates

Load frames with cyclic loading capability. Tests using pre-cracked compact tension specimens were conducted to determine the susceptibility of Ni-Cr-Mo alloys to stress corrosion cracking in simulated groundwater.		Stress corrosion cracking tests
