Mr. Fierro is a Research Engineer in the Plant Engineering Services section of
the Mechanical and Fluids and Machinery Engineering Department. He performs field
analysis and analytical review to solve vibration and pulsation problems
in fluid handling machinery and their associated piping systems.
Mr. Fierro has created LabView Vis to acquire data from pressure gauges,
thermocouples, and strain gauges and has worked to troubleshoot
electrical and mechanical data acquisition problems. He has also worked
on modal analysis testing of piping, machinery, and structures and on
determining natural acoustic and mechanical resonances.
Mr. Fierro has modified and worked with computer programs to simulate
transient pressure responses in piping systems and to model dynamic
mechanical responses of piping systems. Mr. Fierro has also programmed
special purpose computer based data acquisition systems and
instrumentation.
Recent projects at Southwest Research Institute have included several
vibration and pulsation studies of compressors and rotating machinery.
