Biomedical Engineering
This fully automated, wide-field inverted microscope supports micro-analysis efforts, including live cell visualization, bacterial visualization and particle detection.
This 3D printer can extrude plastic prototypes for marketing analysis or engineering prototypes.
State-of-the-art equipment and facilities of Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) are housed on more than 1,200 acres acres in San Antonio. Almost More than 2 million square feet of laboratories, offices, and test facilities support work on more than 4,000 client projects each year. SwRI facilities include:
- Microscopy (SEM, AFM, Raman, fluorescent, cell culturing)
- Anechoic chambers (electromagnetic and acoustic)
- Mechanical test labs (shock, drop, hardness, vibration, wear, fatigue, torsion, compression)
- Environmental testing facilities (atmospheric pressure, temperature, and humidity)
- Imaging equipment (optical, thermal, X-ray, ultrasound, etc.)
- Spectroscopy (HPLC, Raman, mass spec, gas chromatography)
- Clean rooms
- Biology labs
- Chemistry labs
- Prototype manufacturing facility
- Machine shops
- Rapid prototyping facilities
