Technical Fields:

Chemistry and Chemical Engineering

SwRI performs research and technical services for industrial and government clients using chemistry and chemical engineering technology. Some of the disciplines covered are environmental engineering, chemical and process engineering, microencapsulation, polymer and material sciences, chemical demilitarization, fire testing, and analytical services. Computer Science

Continuing a long tradition of government and industry support, SwRI staff members provide design and development services in computer science for the definition, development, and maintenance of complex systems and equipment. SwRI provides engineering expertise in designing and developing automated systems used by industry and government. Mechanical Engineering

SwRI is internationally recognized for its engineering dynamics, structures, materials, and fluids systems programs. The Institute’s mission is to improve the safety, reliability, efficiency, and life of new or existing mechanical components or systems for the economic benefit of its clients.

Physics

SwRI uses physics in many of its research projects and technical services for clients. The Institute conducts research and development in disciplines such as advanced electronic and microelectronic devices and systems, unique power supplies and sources, special-purpose voice and data communications equipment, and mechanical systems. SwRI also continues its research in space science and the development of innovative spacecraft instrumentation and systems.
