Student Assistant
Aerospace Electronics and Information Technology Division

GS-35F-0533L

QUALIFICATIONS:   The student assistant is typically in the process of completing a four-year college degree from an accredited university in a scientific, technical, or engineering discipline. As a Student Assistant, the individual must exercise judgment, diligence, and attention to detail and demonstrate an aptitude for carrying out responsible technical assignments. The key difference between the Student Analyst position and the Student Assistant position is that the student assistant will be involved in a larger variety of training research and development tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIESThe Student Assistant position is the normal entry-level position for an analyst, engineer, or scientist who has recently completed at least one or two years of a Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline but has little or no experience. This initial assignment provides the opportunity for the individual to learn to function professionally, responsibly, and accountably in SwRI's R&D environment, for the individual to evaluate his or her interest in the Institute's technical programs, and for Institute management to evaluate the individual's aptitude and capability for future success and growth. The Student Assistant will participate in systems, databases and network design programs primarily within Aerospace applications.
