QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate Specialist should have completed a four-year college degree from an accredited university in the field, appropriate to their specialization. For non-degreed staff, experience, knowledge, and ability in a certain field of specialization
should generally be equivalent to that obtained through a four-year degree. In this initial assignment, the individual must exercise discretion and independent judgment, diligence, and attention to detail and must demonstrate an aptitude for carrying out responsible assignments without immediate supervision. RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is the entry-level position for a
professional with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge and skill,
and little or no experience, in their chosen non-scientific or
non-engineering specialization. the initial assignment provides the
opportunity for the individual to learn to function within in the
Institute's R&D environments.
An Associate Specialist in the Automation and data Systems Division performs the following
tasks:
- Performs specialized program administration
and assignments, as part of a work group or project team, requiring the application of established techniques, procedures, and system concepts in carrying out a sequence of related tasks.
- Conducts surveys; collects, analyzes, and interprets report results.
- Prepares final written reports of work and work product for clients;
may give client's employees one-on-one training and instruction.
- Provides work instruction and supervision to technical support and administrative support staff.
- Demonstrates proficiency in writing and
verbal presentation skills and the mastery of computer software and
hardware common to the field of specialization.
- Provides business services support to
Institute staff members or clients and responds to basic inquiries
regarding core functions.
