QUALIFICATIONS: An Assistant Specialist should have completed a four-year college degree from an accredited university in the field, which is appropriate to their specialization. For non-degreed staff, experience, knowledge, and ability in a certain field of specialization will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis but should generally be equivalent to that obtained through a four-year degree. In this initial assignment, the individual must exercise discretion and independent judgment, diligence, and attention to detail and must demonstrate an aptitude for carrying out responsible assignments without immediate supervision. RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is the normal entry level position for a newly graduated professional, with little or no experience, with a Bachelor's degree in their chosen specialization in a non-scientific or non-engineering field such as industrial or occupational arts, business administration, education, communications, or liberal arts.
An Assistant Specialist in the Automation and data Systems Division performs the following functions:
- Performs routine assignments and investigations assigned by more experienced professional or management staff.
- Is part of a project team requiring an application of established techniques, procedures, and system concepts in carrying out a sequence of related tasks.
- Conducts surveys.
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets report results.
- Prepares final written reports of work and work product for clients.
- Provides work instruction and supervision to technical support and administrative support staff.
