QUALIFICATIONS:   A Senior Specialist must have five to seven years in a Specialist Support position. A four-year degree in a relevant field and five years of directly applicable experience is necessary. Completion of promotion/project management courses or advanced degree in field of specialization desirable. Must have specialized senior-level skills in a specific area, and be able to supervise effectively, coordinate and manage special projects, and have superior communication and interpersonal skills. Provide expert independent advice to senior management. Supervises and trains subordinate staff. May be required to have an appropriate level security clearance.

RESPONSIBILITIESIn the Automation and Data systems Division, an individual at this level performs the following functions: 

  • Performs studies, analyses, and evaluates information technology for use in client programs. 
  • Performs technical evaluation of assigned personnel. 
  • Mentors and assists project personnel in developing information systems within field of technical expertise. 
  • Develops and prepares written instructions, instructional manuals or electronic media for delivery to client. 
  • Prepares and develops computer based training. 
  • May be responsible for control of classified document inventory for individual projects.
