QUALIFICATIONS: Individuals must be recognized as a critical resource, having established a reputation for technical excellence in the Institute at large and to some extent in the external community. Work is often consultative in nature and self-initiated. Individuals are expected to work independently and require little or no supervision. They provide guidance to middle and top management in their areas of expertise and on research trends. This individual serves as mentor to the junior staff and often is the senior individual representing the Institute in a certain technical area. Individuals must fulfill principal level researcher responsibilities and have experience of five years at that level. An advanced degree in a chosen technical field is desirable. Individuals should also assume training and development responsibility for less experienced technical staff. Staff Analysts must have a background in computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline. RESPONSIBILITIES:
A Staff Analyst has developed and has been the lead in complex projects. This individual will interface with clients, is responsible for dealing with complex technical issues, and has developed creative and innovative solutions to problems through the application of advanced theory, concepts, and practices. A Staff Analyst must be capable of designing and developing new technologies or concepts to solve complex technical problems.
In the Automation and Data Systems Division, personnel at this level perform the following functions:
- Maintains a reputation of technical excellence in field of software engineering and design.
- Works independently on complex technical problems to provide solutions to project team or client.
- Mentors project technical personnel on the development of innovative information technology systems products.
- Capable of developing new technology for insertion into information systems products.
- Maintain currency in emerging technologies, research trends, and leading edge technology uses and modifications.
- Presents creative and complex technical data to staff members and clients.
