QUALIFICATIONS:
Assistant Managers at this level must have demonstrated the capability
to successfully lead engineering and scientific related technology
projects of significant scope and complexity supporting Direction
Finding, Signal Acquisition, and Electronic Warfare program research and
development. This includes managing multidisciplinary teams of
scientists, engineers, analysts, training and documentation specialists,
and other technical specialists. A Bachelors degree in science or
engineering is required has a minimum; and an advanced degree in
science, engineering, business, or related academic field is highly
desirable. The Assistant Manager will have received training in
management. Outstanding organizational, management, communications,
technical, and interpersonal skills are essential. The Assistant Manager
must have a working knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of the
range of technology tools to select the optimum combination of tools to
solve the client’s near- and long-term objectives. RESPONSIBILITIES:
An individual at this level has the following responsibilities supporting
Direction Finding, Signal Acquisition, and Electronic Warfare program
research and development in the absence of the Manager:
- Consults with the project staff throughout a
project to ensure the client’s objectives are met, helping the client to
realize how changes in technology impact their planned and existing
systems.
- Manages large multidisciplinary
hardware/software technology projects involving systems design,
development, enhancement, modernization, integration, and
re-engineering.
- Manages section staff involving change
management, business process analysis, and management of resources.
- Assembles multidisciplinary project teams
using concepts of matrix management.
- Commands a thorough understanding of
contracting procedures, rules, and regulations for SwRI, and industrial,
Government, and foreign clients.
- Has overall responsibility for technical
quality, and contract and financial management of the projects assigned
to their section.
