GS-23F-0006MDescription of Capabilities Available for GSA Schedule 871Training, Simulation,
and Performance Improvement Division Training, Simulation, and Performance Improvement DivisionBackgroundSouthwest Research Institute's (SwRI's) Training, Simulation, and Performance Improvement Division develops innovative and effective solutions to training problems for industry and government clients worldwide. Teams of instructional design professionals, simulation engineers, and systems integration specialists work closely with clients and target audiences to analyze training needs, design solutions, and develop the strategies, methods, and media to meet the requirements. At SwRI, modern learning theories and advanced training technologies are the foundation from which virtual environments, interactive courseware, embedded training, distributed simulation, and real-time computer-generated imagery are developed. Relative to competing organizations that provide training systems and/or simulators, SwRI's TS&S Division is unique in that technical expertise, which can be applied to a variety of training domains, is drawn from more than 3,300 employees across eleven operational divisions. This "in-house" subject matter expertise greatly reduces the amount of time customers spend supplying specific technical input. Core CompetenciesInteractive TechnologiesSwRI's expertise in interactive systems development is based on more than 20 years of experience in creating cutting-edge technical solutions within the aerospace and simulation training industries. We have developed a wide variety of high-fidelity PC training products such as interactive electronic technical manuals, performance support systems, stand-alone and web-based interactive multimedia courseware, 3D display and debriefing systems, intelligent tutoring systems, and virtual reality. Instructional Systems Development (ISD)SwRI performs all phases of the ISD process, including training needs assessment, training system requirement analysis, target audience analysis, instructional and media design, development of criterion-referenced tests, formative evaluation, and quantitative operational assessment to determine the degree of training transfer and instructional effectiveness. Simulation Systems Engineering and IntegrationThe TS&S Division develops technologies and applies systems engineering processes to produce total training solutions. We conduct research, perform feasibility studies, design, develop, and evaluate simulators, simulation models, databases, virtual environments, distributed systems, instructor and simulation authoring environments, embedded training, and development and modernization of part-task operational and maintenance training devices. Aerospace Electronics & Information Technology DivisionThe Aerospace Electronics and Information Technology Division is an electronics and computer engineering-oriented organization serving the needs of industry and government agencies through aerospace technology transfer. The division combines extensive hardware and software design activities with a comprehensive systems engineering program. In addition, a broad range of services is available to help clients produce, operate, and manage systems through effective training, supply, transportation, distribution, testing, maintenance, repair, and other logistics support functions.
Automation & Data Systems DivisionThe Automation and Data Systems Division provides engineering services in the definition, development, and maintenance of complex systems and equipments for government and industry. The staff of 100 electrical, industrial, and mechanical engineers, computer scientists, and support staff form multidisciplinary teams to provide technological solutions for commercial and military problems. The state of the art in design aids, laboratory instrumentation, and test equipment are provided in extensive facilities to aid the engineering services provided to clients.
Signal Exploitation & Geolocation DivisionThe Signal Exploitation and Geolocation Division is recognized worldwide as a leader in geolocation system development, providing advanced direction finding (DF) and tracking systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and other U.S. government agencies, as well as to commercial and foreign clients. Division scientists and engineers work directly with clients to provide optimum hardware and software solutions to specific operational problems. The staff develop systems that range from one-of-a-kind, commercial-level designs to large-scale, fully documented MIL-SPEC production units.
Mechanical & Materials Engineering DivisionThe Mechanical and Materials Engineering Divison is internationally recognized in its core programs of: Engineering Dynamics, Structures, Materials, and Fluids Systems. Our mission is to improve the safety, reliability, efficiency, and life of new or existing mechanical components or systems for the economic benefit of our clients.
