The Mechanical and Materials Engineering Division opened the Computational Mechanics office in Minneapolis, Minn. This office, which is part of the Engineering Dynamics Department, provides support to the the U.S. Department of Defense and its contractors. The office has capabilities in evaluating the dynamic response of materials and structures to impact and explosive loading. Dr. Gordon Johnson, who leads the office, is an internationally known expert in the field of computational modeling of materials.
