Course Description:

GD&T is an international symbolic language used on mechanical engineering drawings to supplement and optimize traditional coordinate dimensioning and tolerancing. Dan Bauer from ITR holds Senior GD&T Certification from ASME and will be teaching GD&T Fundamentals including the following:

  • What is it, who uses it, and why
  • Metric and inch dimensioning and tolerancing conventions
  • Major Elements of GD&T
  • Key elements and major changes to the last three revisions to Y14.5 and ISO 1101
  • Industry specific standards, requirements, and exceptions to Y14.5
  • How to Interpret Feature Control Frames, Datums, and Basic Dimensions
  • Inspection and measurement options for each of the 14 GD&T Symbols
  • Advantages and Disadvantages of GD&T for Design, Manufacturing, and Inspection
  • Basic Steps for Applying Coordinate and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to New Designs or Drawings
  • Customized application and interpretation exercises based on Participant Drawings*

This program is appropriate for all management, design, manufacturing, quality, inspection, purchasing personnel to understand the benefits and proper application and interpretation of GD&T.

*Participants are encouraged to submit drawings (with or without GD&T) to the Instructor before and during the seminar for review during the presentation.

Course Description:

Learn the fundamentals and applications of ISO 9001 Internal Auditing. This two-day internal auditing course covers the recently revised ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) Standard, requirements and auditing techniques.

This internal audit training class will benefit individuals participating in an internal audit for the first time; employees of companies interested in implementation or management of ISO QMS; and quality professionals who want a refresher course. No prior audit experience necessary.

Topics covered in this Internal Auditing course will enable you to:

  • Understand the ISO 9001:2015 QMS requirements.
  • Understand the changes in the 9001:2008 revision.
  • Plan and conduct effective internal audits.

Course Description:

In response to escalating attacks, we have invited a top official from the Department of Commerce to join us for a special presentation and workshop on Cybersecurity with the hope that you keep your facility safe from threats. According to NIST:

  • The average cost a manufacturer pays to overcome a data breach is $38,000
  • 55% of small businesses will experience a breach or a cyberattack

The first part of the workshop will provide an overview of best practices, including understanding threats, protective actions, and recovery. The second half of the morning will be more technical, specifically geared for those that are interested in implementing a robust deterrent system, and manufacturers that supply the Department of Defense, GSA or NASA which are required to be compliant to DFAR SP800-171.

Participants of this workshop that are defense suppliers could be eligible to receive grant-funded TMAC consulting to review and implement the requirements (inquire if interested).

Course Description:

Introduce your front line employees and supervisors to the concepts of the DMAIC methodology (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control ) and basic Lean concepts (5S, Value Streams etc.) to generate results that are impactful, robust, and sustainable.

This training covers the fundamental methodologies utilized for Lean Six Sigma problem solving. The Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt training course covers a few of the basic improvement procedures and their necessary metrics, enabling attendees to become central team members on LSS projects. The course also allows attendees to detect wasteful activities and make necessary improvements in their day-to-day activities.

The Supervisor Certification curriculum targets firstline supervisors at manufacturing facilities with a comprehensive overview of supervisory principles. With a strong emphasis on continuous improvement, job instruction, employee relations, problem solving, and effective communication, the course teaches students the interpersonal strategies to become a productive and respected supervisor.

Course Based on Training Within Industry (TWI). TWI is an improvement process that addresses the essential skills needed by supervisors (anyone leading others). TWI’s rich history originated in the United States in the 1940s where the program was an resounding success, boosting industrial production beyond expectations.

  • 86% of companies increased production by at least 25%
  • 100% reduced training time by more than 25%
  • 55% reduced scrap by at least 25%

During the prosperity of post-war America, the TWI program was abandoned and it soon became a faded memory. TWI is experiencing a rebirth throughout industry. Course Description:

TMAC’s Lean Six Sigma Program provides a systematic approach to combine the waste elimination methods of Lean with the variation reduction toolset of Six Sigma. The DMAIC process provides the overarching structure for project management, which helps insure that solutions are sustainable. Students learn through a combination of lecture, student project presentations, exercises, case studies, and simulations. Instructors emphasize practical application of tools and methods. The median payback for TMAC Black Belt projects is $150,000/year.

The LSS Black Belt class is a rigorous course incorporating both Basic and Advanced problem-solving methods. A partial list of tools covered includes value stream mapping, Little’s Law, measurement system analysis, process control & capability, hypothesis testing, kaizen, pull systems, regression, setup reduction, process balancing, and design of experiments.
