Southwest Research Institute® (SwRI®) News Printer Friendly VersionSwRI offers structural and environmental performance testsFor immediate release San Antonio, Texas -- January 10, 2000 -- Southwest Research Institute® (SwRI®) has added new structural and environmental performance tests for building products to comply with the International Conference of Building Officials Evaluation Services (ICBO ES) Acceptance Criteria (AC), AC-11 and AC-24. The structural and environmental performance tests evaluate durability, structural, and weather resistive characteristics of building products such as Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS). "The new facilities, coupled with our fire testing capabilities, offer clients in the construction industry a one-stop laboratory for conducting the range of tests required by various code bodies and jurisdictions," said Alex Wenzel, director of SwRI's Fire Technology Department. "SwRI is one of the few facilities in the world that offer all tests required by the ICBO ES Acceptance Criteria at one location." The Institute also offers additional tests not required by the ICBO ES, but which may be necessary to meet other building code requirements.
