Southwest Research Institute® (SwRI®) News Printer Friendly VersionSwRI hosts international filtration conferenceSan Antonio, Texas -- September 16, 2002 -- Southwest Research Institute® (SwRI®) will host the Fifth International Filtration Conference, to be held in Stuttgart, Germany, October 1517, 2002. Gary B. Bessee, manager of the Filtration, Logistics, and Fluids Research Section in SwRI's Engine and Vehicle Research Division, has organized all five of the annual filtration conferences and is chairman for the upcoming event. "This conference offers a significant opportunity for the transportation industry, including the automotive and aviation sectors, and its supporting communities to learn from each other. The transportation and filtration industries play key roles in protecting the environment and assuring the effective and wise use of our natural resources," Bessee said. The conference will feature keynote speaker Dr. Ulrich Projahn, of Robert Bosch GmbH, an international conglomerate. Projahn will speak on the relevance of filtration in automotive equipment, including particulate and water contamination. He will also discuss potential lubricity issues with future fuels. Twenty-two papers will be presented at the conference, with presenters from Canada, France, Italy, United Kingdom, United States, and Germany. The conference also features a short course on fuel and water coalescence. Instructors are Bessee and Vic Hughes, of Vic Hughes Associates Ltd, located in the United Kingdom. Mann + Hummel Group, an automotive equipment manufacturing company with more than 38 worldwide locations, will co-host the event. More than 150 participants are expected to attend.
