Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) News Printer Friendly VersionJakab receives young author award from NACESan Antonio March 1, 2006 Dr. Marta Jakab, a research engineer in the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Division at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), has received the 2006 A.B. Campbell Award from NACE International. The award is presented to an author or authors 35 years of age or younger in recognition of the most outstanding manuscript published in the NACE journals Corrosion or Materials Performance. Jakab earned the award for her paper "Critical Concentrations Associated with Cobalt, Cerium and Molybdenum Inhibition of AA2024-T3 Corrosion: Delivery from Al-Co-Ce(Mo) Alloys," published in the March 2005 issue of Corrosion. Jakab joined the SwRI staff in 2005. She is experienced in corrosion, electrochemistry, surface characterization and analytical chemistry. At SwRI, her work centers on a variety of programs related to environmental effects on materials, such as investigating the localized corrosion processes in copper-nickel alloys. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry from the University of Debrecen in Debrecen, Hungary, and a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Virginia.
