SUMMARY: Perform numerical modeling and calculations in support of ongoing R&D programs; use commercial and in-house modeling and simulation tools to provide analysis of physical processes; develop algorithms for engineering analysis or data reduction and implement in software or scripts; plan and assist in conducting experiments and field trials to support project efforts.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Requires an MS with 1-3 years related experience or a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or Engineering Mechanics. Must have at least a 3.5 GPA. Requires experience in programming and/or scripting languages and solid modeling and/or fluid dynamics modeling; must have knowledge of numerical methods for solving equations; ability to interact well with clients, collaborators, and co-workers; interest in learning and working in new areas of study; prefer experience in vibration or mechanical analysis; prefer experience with ANSYS and MATLAB; experience in C and/or FORTRAN a plus; prefer experience in developing or maintaining simulation software. Some travel required. A valid/clear driver’s license is required.
