Engineering Technologist
(System Administration)

SUMMARY:  Support a fielded electronic support system; define, design, and implement system network communications and solutions; maintain system accountability and security through system login and password audit functions; identify, collect, and evaluate data relating to system problems that reduce user performance and efficiency; develop and maintain system operating procedures; install software packages and ensure the system is operating correctly; trouble-shoot and upgrade multiple hardware platforms to include operational mission systems; plan and implement backup schema of network file systems; maintain scripts that help automate systems maintenance; create and maintain scripts that help automate systems maintenance; set up and maintain a help desk operation to support trouble calls, outage information, system availability, configuration management, and other support functions; provide informal OJT or refresher training as directed by the Contracting Officer on a case-by case basis.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with 20 years experience in Systems Administration, Systems Maintenance (hardware and software), and Help-Desk Administration. Requires good oral and written communication skills and the ability to function effectively in a mixed cultural environment; experience in configuration and troubleshooting RAID controllers, network switches, routers, RF components and tuners, antennas and antenna arrays required; software experience loading and configuring Linux and Microsoft XP workstations and some familiarity with Oracle database; experience with scripting languages such as Perl is desired. Work hours will be alternating shifts, Monday-Friday from 7:00-4:00 and 10:00-7:00; when operations are closed; there will be some on-call work from 7:00 to 7:00 am, week days, weekends and holidays is required. Travel to service field sites within the country will be required. Fly-away and phone in support from SwRI CONUS personnel will be made available as needed. A valid/clear driver’s license is required. TS/SCI Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph is mandatory.
 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:  NOTE: Work location is in Seoul, South Korea for a three year period and includes cost of lodging, cost of living allowance and shipment of household goods. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
