TECHNICAL SPECIALIST (CISCO NETWORK & TELECOM) Job code: 32-00515*


Job Summary:

    Perform the configuration, installation and management of Cisco networking equipment and Unified Communications Systems following Cisco's recommended best practices for IP Telephony/Networking environments; assist non-technical users in resolving problems with their networking or Unified Communications equipment; document network and communication equipment or connections by preparing diagrams, charts or using ITC’s custom web applications; provide support for remote access, wireless and visitors network trouble tickets and new installations; perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

    Requires a BS degree in Information Technology or related field with an emphasis in networking with at least a 3.0 GPA. Must have 3 years experience in the configuration, management and troubleshooting of Cisco networking equipment including routers, switches and wireless access points in a campus environment, 3 years experience in the configuration, management and troubleshooting of a Cisco Unified Communications environment in a campus environment with remote offices and 2 years experience in script programming (Visual Basic, TcL, JavaScript, Perl, etc.), configuration, management and troubleshooting of Cisco's Unified Communications Contact Center. Must know how to configure, install and troubleshoot Cisco networking equipment including routers, switches, and/or wireless access points in a routed campus environment; must have excellent working knowledge of all basic TCP/IP protocols, including telnet, ftp, smtp, http, https, ssh, sip, VPN and others; must have 2 or more years of experience in an information technology help desk environment; must be able to work from verbal and written instructions, manual and schematics to assemble, maintain and troubleshoot computer and network equipment; must be able to work harmoniously with service vendors, supervisors and co-workers; must have good technical writing skills; Cisco CCNA (Routing/Switching or Voice), CCNP, CCVP, A+ and/or Network+ is a plus; experience with NetIQ's AppManager is a plus. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
