MANAGER-R&D (SPACE HARDWARE DEVELOPMENT) Job code: 15-01050*


Job Summary:

    Manage a team of spacecraft avionics hardware development team to provide innovative and high reliability solutions to meet the diverse needs of the space industry; support and lead business opportunities in spacecraft hardware technologies across government, commercial and international markets; architect, design, develop and manage spacecraft avionics systems and instrumentation electronics for NASA, DoD, and commercial spacecraft; work closely with customers to develop system requirements, devise implementation and detailed design plans, manage overall system trades including power, mass, and performance as well as create low-level specifications for spacecraft instrumentation electronics and avionics modules, FPGAs, GSE, etc.; manage spacecraft avionics and instrumentation electronics program from $1M to $15M, coordinate technical and programmatic staff, perform earned value reporting, and oversee reliability engineering activities.

Education/Experience:

    Requires a BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 15 years experience or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 12 years experience with at least a 3.3 GPA. Candidate must have strong written and verbal presentation skills with experience in new business development, product engineering and client relations. Should have a solid understanding of the technology as well as the end applications and can bridge the gap between the end users and the development teams to provide the highest value solutions to our clients. Experience in development of spaceflight hardware including avionics, instrument systems, or ground support systems. Candidate should have demonstrated successful management of electronics development efforts including meeting cost, schedule, earned value reporting and technical performance goals. Project management experience at the card, instrument, or subsystem level a must. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
