ENGINEER (FIRE TECHNOLOGY)

Job Summary:
- Perform, plan and develop research and testing services in the area of fire technology, combustion, and structural and material response to heat; conduct experiments and analyze, interpret and report results; provide work instruction to technical support staff; write proposals for assigned areas of responsibilities and interact with clients, fire and code officials and regulatory bodies; maintain and expand volume of work; build new program areas consistent with or related to fire research and testing industry; develop professional contact both within and outside the Institute; use computer software and hardware common to the field of fire testing and research; prioritize workload to meet project deadlines; troubleshoot and make minor repairs to test equipment.
Education/Experience:
- Requires a BS degree in Fire Protection Engineering with at least a 3.0 GPA and 0 - 2 years related experience. Must have experience in project management and fire testing or research experience. Must have good written and verbal communication skills; must have good organizational and time management skills; must be dependable and self-motivated; must be able to multi-task, pay attention to detail, be diligent, exercise good judgment and have a positive attitude toward working individually and as a team; must be able to exercise good judgment, diligence, and care with attention to detail; must be proficient in computer tools that includes Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be able to obtain P.E. license within seven (7) years. A valid/clear driver's license is required.

- Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
