RESEARCH ENGINEER (SYSTEM ENGINEERING) Job code: 11-00582


Job Summary:

    Research level position guiding design and development of digital circuitry and embedded firmware on hardware and software development teams; tasks include developing requirements, designing, implementing, testing, and documenting hardware and software applications from concept through delivery; leading engineering teams in hardware system design, development, prototyping, characterization and testing; managing tasks to produce results within a given schedule and budget; performing laboratory testing, field testing and troubleshooting; interact directly with technical customer to more fully understand requirements and constraints of the task objectives.

Education/Experience:

    Requires a BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with at least a 3.0 GPA and 4 years of system engineering experience with involvement in complete design lifecycle, proposal through delivery. General familiarity with various microprocessor architectures is needed; experience with C and assembly language programming for microcontrollers is required; must be able to use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters and function generators; general familiarity with digital hardware is required; basic knowledge of signal conditioning, filtering, A/D converters, D/A converters, voltage regulation and discrete components is desired; experience in MatLab, C#, LabView, and SQL is a plus; experience in testing and troubleshooting circuit boards is desired; experience with logic analyzers and spectrum analyzers is a plus; must be able to work well both independently and as part of a project team. Job related travel and field testing may be required. Must be able to obtain a government security clearance. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
