ENGINEER/RESEARCH ENGINEER (AEROSPACE DESIGN) Job code: 09-01045*


Job Summary:

    Solve mechanical/aerospace problems with conceptual designs, systems modeling, and fabrication of prototype hardware. Design mechanical solutions for packaging electronics, avionics, test systems, and other Aerospace applications; design test fixtures and perform data analysis; design and conduct laboratory experiments; troubleshoot equipment problems; oversee a project's technical activity; deal directly with customers and develop and deliver presentations to customers.

Education/Experience:

    Requires a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Avionics Engineering with at least a 3.4 GPA. Masters preferred. Must have 0-7 years experience in mechanical design and electronics packaging. For Research Engineering level, minimum of 2 years developing Department of Defense (DOD) and/or commercial experience developing mechanical designs and associated drawings to support subsequent testing and integration. Experience in qualifying mechanical designs to MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 requirements preferred; relevant experience in 3-D modeling in support of mechanical designs required; DoD prior experience desired; experience with MATLAB/Simulink, and Solidworks is required; Autocad experience is desired. Must be knowledgeable on Model Based Design practices; leadership experience in project management and cost/schedule/performance issues a plus; requires excellent interpersonal skills to complement strong technical skills; position demands teamwork, flexibility, innovation, and responsiveness to dynamic business and market conditions; proposal support and design presentations to clients required. Must be able to travel to client sites to integrate and test systems. Occasional travel required (up to 10% on average). A valid/clear driver's license is required.
