SR. RESEARCH ENGINEER (SPACE SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING) Job code: 15-01071*


Job Summary:

    Responsible for design, analysis, documentation and verification of high speed digital electronics, FPGA and embedded processor designs; develop specifications, cost, schedule and resource requirements for board level circuit design; provide direction to PCB designers and work within an IPT environment with other disciplines such as packaging, parts, reliability, production and quality assurance; verify testing of customer hardware; provide field support at customer facilities.

Education/Experience:

    Requires a BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with at least a 3.0 GPA. Master’s Degree is a plus. Candidates with cPCI, Actel and/or Xilinx design experience given preference. Priority will be given to candidates with direct space flight design experience. 7+ years of experience with Digital and Analog Design, Low Power Electronics Design, High Speed Digital Design and Mixed Mode Circuit Design is a plus. Must possess solid design skills associated with FPGA and Embedded Processor, with experience in verification and validation of designs; must be proficient in Verilog Design tools and worst case analysis; VHDL design is a plus; must have strong test and circuit debugging skills and be proficient with standard Analysis tools, Design Tools and laboratory electronics test equipment; requires strong experience in Verilog development methodology and test bench development of FPGAs, experience in digital system partitioning and advanced function implementation of FPGAs; must be able to develop specifications, cost, schedule and resource requirements for board level circuit design; must be able to provide direction to PCB designers; must be able to work within an IPT environment with other disciplines such as packaging, parts, reliability, production and quality assurance; must have strong verbal and written communication skills; must have strong presentation skills; strong lab skills required for the verification testing of customer hardware; familiarity with Spacewire or Firewire is a plus. Field support may require travel to customer facilities. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
